“TONGUE Tied”? 📿

Do You Compare Modern Prophets With the Bible?
Its funny, (odd or interesting) that I opened my Bible to I Corinthians14:17 where it says,

“For thou verily givest thanks well, but the other is not edified.”

WHY? Before opening up my Bible, I was thanking God right and left (more than usual) “from A to Z” for all the blessings He’s giving us and will give us.

So, God decided to tell me that:  “Of a truth you give thanks well, but you’ve neglected other areas of your life” (paraphrased from v.17).

Then Paul goes on to admonish Corinthians for their confusion of tongues. I don’t have a problem with that, but I believe God wished to point out His Spirit’s work in prophecy and its importance to get it right. We have to get it right, or we will blaspheme the name of God through careless research.
Verses 32 & 33 is clear,

“…The spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets. For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.”

Confusion comes into the church when we go off the rails. “The track of error remains close to the track of truth,” as my favorite inspired author once wrote.

We go off the rails when we fail to check our work against the track of truth, as written down by “the prophets” that have gone before – we “are subject to the prophets.”

Those that have gone before, and are written down in GOD’s Holy Bible take precedent over what God may give those that come after. There’s no exceptions. We are not to contradict GOD’s word.

If its not included in the Bible, then there’s good reason for it. It could be that its too fragmented, such as “The Book of Enoch.” Though the books we see appear to be complete enough, yet on closer examination, words have been inserted that frankly go against all that the Bible teaches.

You can know that these words were inserted after “The Book of Enoch” was written, by the [bracketed] words (example is [bracketed] word). Its heavily bracketed, because of the severity of the original fragment words. Much has been lost. Those inspired men, that put together the King James Bible, knew about this “Book of Enoch,” but rejected it, because of this.

If someone were to do a proper bracketed Edition, then we may be able to use it in study. For there is useful information in it.

For example: Angels are said to have bred with humans, and this is where the “giants” came from in Genesis 6. Immediately there’s a problem with that. For Jesus said, “Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God. For in the resurrection they [‘the sons of God”/all believers on Earth & Heads of State on other Planets]* neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven.” angels are neither male nor female. *[1]

Not only is “angels having sex with humans,”(?*) contrary to Jesus words in Matthew 22:29, but goes contrary to the message of salvation that is extended to all humans.

AND if you say, well they’re not human, then you’ve got to “judge” who is human and who is not human — and so, that gets a little sticky, and you wind up going further down that unending rabbit hole. *(?-either that, or some say angel DNA was somehow inserted – good luck with that, seeing that GOD “…made his angels spirits, and his ministers a flame of fire.” Heb.1:7

If you want to think about what really happened, just look at the mural below, found in Corinth, Greece. Or look up those Egyptians murals — and with looking at the murals, & a few key text in the Bible (if you’re inclined to ignore the bracketed portion & only read the original text) “the Book of Enoch” would provide that insight that corroborates the Bible. You should figure it out, with very little trouble. I can give you those texts.

Now getting back to where we were in I Corinthians 14:32 & 33, it is clear,

“…The spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets. For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.”

Prophecy is for “the believers” in order to inform where the church stands at the moment. Yet “tongues are for “them that believe not,” as it is a “SIGN” that the Spirit has included those outside the church body, into the church body. So speaking in tongues is redundant for those who believe and are already in the church service. Why would the church believers need a “sign” that they are accepted into the body of believers, when they are they which make up the body of believers? Compare Peter’s words in Acts 10:44-48.

If there are people who are attending church service from a foreign country, who do not believe and cannot speak the local language, then tongues may be spoken in order that these foreign individuals might hear the gospel message and “believe.”

Seeing that the town of Corinth is a Seaport, then its likely for there to be several in attendance, that speak a different language, and fit the category of “unbeliever.”

It was common then that there would be more than 2 or 3 of church members who would give key parts of the gospel in a foreign “tongue”– yet, they were not to speak at once, one on top of the other, but in order — and only if there was someone there that knew that language, who Paul describes as “interpreter.”

Yet, if everyone is speaking all at once, the unbelievers would run out of the church saying, “Ye are mad.”

Paul admonished, saying
“If any man speak in an unknown tongue, let it be by two, or at the most by three, and that by course; and let one interpret. But if there be no interpreter, let him keep silence in the church…”

The church members are Not to speak no more than 2 or 3 of these foreign languages. And only if someone was there to understand it.

An “interpreter” is more likely to mean, someone who speaks that language, rather than an “interpreter in the typical sense. For if he is one that is familiar with both languages (the foreign & the local) why would the church members need the gift of tongues?

Yet, all this “tongue” speaking and “prophesying” is not nearly as important as is “Love,” which Paul calls “charity,” in I Corinthians 13, and should be read aloud every day, according to one inspired writer. (try & substitute the word “love” whenever you see “charity”).

“God is Love,” and gave all of heaven, when He gave His Son to us as a gift – and He wants the whole world to understand this salvation message, through every means possible, whether by “tongues” or through “prophesy,” but especially given in “Love” – God is in the business to get this message out and very quickly!

If I’m not clear in this, please forgive me. My old iPad that I love is not charging properly, and my laptop is awkward for me to use, and frustrating.

[1] Ok, I know some of you guys are gonna want to ask me about that last insertion in with “sons of God”– so if your interested in a short explanation, I’ll give you one. Or, If you wish to know where “giants” came from, Just message me or make a comment here.i
